This insight was shared at the Data Centre Exhibition in Dublin last Thursday, where Mike Meyer emphasized the urgent need for more effective education and recruitment in the industry.
I participated in a panel discussion titled "The Workforce Crisis and Opportunities" alongside Mike, John Booth MBCS, CDCAP, CDCSP, Brian Doherty and Jo Stiles. As a representative of CEDCE: Colleges for European Data Center Education, I discussed a European Commission project aimed at enhancing the supply of highly-qualified graduates by developing universal curricula for all employees in the data center sector.
Currently, there is a significant recruitment crisis within the industry. It is essential for major players to invest in promoting the industry to school leavers. These young individuals are enthusiastic about technology and need to understand how "the cloud" operates. There are excellent job opportunities with promising prospects for any student who is eager and capable.
