Fredericia College of Marine and Technical Engineering: Driving Innovation in Data Centre Education

About Us

Fredericia College of Marine and Technical Engineering (FMS) is a leading Danish institution specializing in the education of operation and maintenance engineers, known as maskinmester. Our Bachelor of Engineering program blends theoretical knowledge with practical application, preparing students for dynamic roles in diverse industries, including the growing data center sector.

Specialization in Data Centre Education

FMS is proud to offer its pioneering Data Centre Programme (DCP) as part of the onshore elective module within the maskinmester curriculum. This unique integration ensures students gain specialized skills in managing data center operations while receiving a comprehensive engineering education. Developed in collaboration with global industry leaders like Google, the program addresses the increasing demand for skilled professionals in the data center industry.

Upon completion, graduates also earn the Certified Data Centre Professional® (CDCP®) certification, enhancing their industry readiness and global employability.

Facilities and Industry Collaboration

To provide practical experience, FMS has established Denmark’s first educational data center—a functional, scaled-down model where students can actively manage complex data center operations. The program benefits from strong industry partnerships, featuring guest lectures and collaborations with major companies such as Google, Facebook, and CBRE.

What we bring to CEDCE

As part of the CEDCE project, FMS is playing a pivotal role in advancing data center education across Europe. Our contributions include:

  • Curriculum Development: Aligning educational content with emerging industry standards to meet the evolving needs of the data center sector.
  • Regional and European Collaboration: Strengthening ecosystems for data center education and workforce development, both regionally and across Europe.
  • Leadership in Sustainability: Promoting environmentally conscious practices and solutions in the data center industry.
  • Knowledge and Skills Transfer: Establishing collaborative frameworks for the exchange of expertise between project partners and the broader data center industry.

At FMS, we are excited to lead the way in shaping the future of data center education, providing students with the tools and knowledge to thrive in this essential industry.
